Specifically, the HCYU Central Committee asked Youth Union branches in cities, provinces and units to encourage members and local young people to actively participate in supporting the COVID-19 fight efforts through bank transfers, cash donations or text messages, contributing to ensuring social security and the safety of the people.
At the same time, the HCYU Central Committee urged its affiliated media and press agencies to accelerate communication on the appeal of the VFF, the donation campaign launched by the HCYU Central Committee, and outstanding examples of COVID-19 prevention and control.
* On the same day, officials and employees at the HCYU Central Committee donated at least one day’s wages in a joint effort to combat COVID-19, with a total amount of more than VND380 million (US$16,281).
* The Hanoi Youth Union said that after the first two weeks of the Youth Month 2020, with specific and practical activities, the capital city’s youths have supported the people and youth union members of Vinh Phuc province with 4,200 masks, 100 litres of disinfectant solution, nearly 2,400 soap bars, 45kg of chloramine-B, and 5,000 medical gloves, while offering 15,000 masks, 100 litres of disinfectant solution and other necessities for the provinces of Lao Cai, Bac Giang and Dien Bien, and the Guard Police High Command.
* The Youth Union of Thai Binh province recently organised a programme “Volunteer Saturday” in Quynh Hoi commune, Quynh Phu district, during which local residents were offered 1,000 free masks and instructed to perform voluntary health declarations in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
In addition, youths in Vu Thu district launched an environmental clean-up to clear “black spots” of garbage in a number of places in the locality. Meanwhile, the Youth Union of Thai Thuy district coordinated with local units to spray disinfectants to curb COVID-19.
* The Youth Union of Dak Nong province recently organised the final round of the third “Vietnamese Pride” contest for the 2019-2020 academic year in Gia Nghia city, with the participation of 20 qualifiers from the school-level round. These students will compete in a four-part final contest to choose the lone winner who will represent the province at the national contest.
The Youth Union and the Women’s Union of Dak Nong Provincial Police coordinated with the Tuy Duc District Police and the Quang Truc commune People’s Committee to distribute 1,000 leaflets on COVID-19 prevention and control and present 1,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to households in the locality.
The Youth Union of the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dak Nong branch, organised the repair of a gratitude house for Vietnamese Heroic Mother Hoang Thi Khiet.
* In Bac Giang province, the Youth Union of Yen Dung district recently handed over a VND260 million kids play area to the youth union of the district health centre in Nham Bien townlet. The gift aims to create a healthy entertainment space for juvenile patients at the centre. In addition, over the past few days, the Youth Union of Yen Dung district has designed and installed 12 communication panels on COVID-19 prevention and control measures.
